Virginia House lawmakers move forward with ‘Assault Weapons’ Gun Control Ban

Passing by the slim margin, Virginia lawmakers passed HB 961 to the Senate for vote. This measure is to ban the sale of ‘assault style’ weapons. Democrats in the Virginia Senate only have a 2 seat lead meaning they can only afford to lose one vote should all the Republicans oppose the bill.

Supporters say the proposed legislation is a response to mass shootings. Seven other states already have laws prohibiting assault-style weapons, including New York and California.

OR Governor Signs into Law Gun Confiscation Bill

Oregon Governor Kate Brown has approved a Democrat-backed gun control law, SB719A. It establishes Extreme Risk Protection Orders, forcing subjects to surrender their firearms, without due process.

Oregon Close To Passing Bill Allowing Firearm Seizures Without Due Process

It appears that Oregon is just one step away from passing an Extreme Risk Protection Order Bill, which can immediately force the subject of the order to hand over all firearms, as well as concealed carry permits. It does not require the gun owner to be present for part of the hearing in which the judge decides whether guns should be taken.

Senate Bill 719 co-sponsored by Sen. Brian Boquist (R-Dallas) reads:

Creates process for obtaining extreme risk protection order prohibiting person from possessing deadly weapon when court finds that person presents risk in near future, including imminent risk, of suicide or causing injury to another person.
